Are all guys complete jerks? I mean in the beginning, they're fine. They're sweet and charming and they will say absolutely anything to win you over. They make you happy. They make you smile. And they make you laugh like nothing else in the world is funnier. You fall in love, and they promise they'll never do anything to hurt you. But then they change. It can happen gradually or abruptly, but it always happens. And you wake up one day asking yourself what the hell went wrong. Who is this guy and what has he done with my boyfriend? And if you're fortunate enough to put up with his behavior long enough, you'll start to detest him. And then it'll hurt a bit when it ends because you realize how much of an idiot he really was, but you'll be more grateful than upset. But then the next time, you see it coming. You end it early so you don't put yourself through all that torture and all those fights. But then you have to put up with the pain. That's when the pain is worst, when that image of the man you used to be so in love with is still fresh in your mind, when you haven't given yourself the opportunity to hate him yet. Moral of the story: you never win. Either way you end up furious and angry, with tons of wasted time or heartbroken. Or both.

In the past two and a half years I've lost complete faith in the male gender. I did everything right. I picked "safe" guys, ones who wouldn't pressure me to do things I didn't want to do, ones who claimed they would respect me always, ones who claimed they loved me more than anything in the world. The most recent one was the nicest, sweetest guy I'd ever met. I mean, he was a truly genuine person. But I watched him slip through my fingertips to the dark side. I watched him do things that the guy I originally met would hate himself for doing, things he swore up and down he would never do. I can't even put into words how utterly frustrating that is. And the worst part: They don't realize what they did wrong! They never apologize for taking your heart, ripping it up into tiny pieces, and stepping all over it. No, of course not. Yet, they want to "still be friends." How about this: You should have thought about that before you treated me like I mean nothing to you!

So here's to all the girls who have ever been taken advantage of or have ever had to put up with a jerk. You're not alone. And you deserve so much better.

To all the jerks who have played with a girl's heart or have treated a girl like she's dirt, one word: Karma.
